Last night in the Atlantic (12/6/21)

Another single-game slate for the Atlantic gave us a pretty exciting game between the short-handed Hornets and the Sixers looking to get back on track!

Standings:
Brooklyn Nets(1) 16-7
Boston Celtics(6) 13-11
Philadelphia 76ers(7) 13-11
New York Knicks 11-12
Toronto Raptors 11-13

Let’s talk about last night!

Joel Embiid

Yes, I’m aware that I’ve highlighted Joel Embiid three times very close to each other. Can you blame me? He’s easily the best thing about the team and consistently the most impressive and dominant too. He just dropped 43p, 15r, & 7a on 15-20 shooting! Like, come on man! While the Hornets were short-handed due to Covid, it doesn’t negate how good of a game Embiid had. This was his fourth 40/15/5 game which is second in Sixers history only to Wilt Chamberlain. Plus, he’s only the third player in the last 40 years to have at least 40/15/5 on 75% shooting. The other two were Giannis Antetokounmpo and Charles Barkley.

Isaiah Joe

I wanted to add a second highlighted player so that it’s not only Joel Embiid all the time. Isaiah Joe may have only gotten about 11 minutes of playing time, but he made sure he delivered in that limited time. I’m prepared to fight and die on the hill that Isaiah Joe deserves more minutes and can be a very good contributor and rotational player in the NBA. His shot is pure, his defense is always improving, and he can give productive minutes. Last night, he ended with 9p, 1r, 1a, & 1s in his 11 minutes.
